In the automotive industry, some choices are motivated by passion, others by reason. In the case of the Honda Odyssey minivan, we're talking about a choice dictated by reason, but passion also plays a role, because it's easy to fall in love with this vehicle when you have the opportunity to discover it thoroughly and get behind the wheel.
Here are three major arguments put forward by the Odyssey.
Powertrain and comfort
The heart of any model is under the hood. With the Odyssey, we're in first class, because for ages, this vehicle has been served by one of the best V6 engines in the industry. With a displacement of 3.5 liters, it offers 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, which is enough for efficient and convincing acceleration. As an added bonus, it can tow up to 3500 pounds. And it operates smoothly, as does the 10-speed automatic transmission. All of this translates into a sublime driving experience, all marked by a very comfortable ride. It's hard not to be seduced by it.
Interior layout
Once on board, you're seduced by other elements. First of all, the visual presentation is very nice, enhanced by a quality of materials and assembly that gives us the impression of being on board a luxury product. And when, from the driver's seat, we take a look at the back, we discover a layout designed to accommodate seven or eight people, depending on the version. In fact, with the seven-seat approach, you get captain's seats, so second-row occupants can enjoy divine comfort. And if you have fun folding down the rows of seats, you'll have access to an interesting cargo volume. Behind the third, second and first rows of seats, respectively, you can enjoy 929, 2452 and 3984 liters of space. That's about as good as it gets in an SUV.
Safety: no compromise
With a family, you want to enjoy the safest vehicle possible. With the 2021 Odyssey, it's hard to find a more complete offering on the market. The Honda Sensing suite, with its many features, provides an excellent foundation for the model. But Honda has enhanced its offering for 2021 with an improved cruise control system that is capable of operating at low speeds and making starts and stops in heavy traffic. Two other features have also been improved, namely pedestrian detection and environmental obstacles during parking maneuvers. This is due to new, more sensitive sensors.
Also, when exiting the vehicle, you won't forget anything in the back seat thanks to the alert that will be transmitted to you when the door is opened. With the Touring version, the CabinWatch system even offers a camera view to keep an eye on your loved ones in that area.
